The Benefits of OLIVES for blood pressure

According to Gaia Herbs, olives have been cultivated for at least 3,000 years, probably longer. They help us with...STRESS. Olive oil extract is said to lower blood pressure as it is anti-inflammatory.

Olive Leaf Tea

If I had the time, the next degree I would pursue would be in nutrition and herbology. Yep, returning to mother nature's medicine cabinet. Think about it. All of our medicines are from botanical chemistry.

Our botanists are studying in the Amazon now, looking for that cure for cancer, so they can replicate it in a lab, patent it, turn it into a product and we can pay $150. a pill. Ow. For the better good.

As our healthcare system grinds deeper and deeper into people's pockets, and into their minds with ever increasing fear-based marketing campaigns we have to wonder...medical is considered one of the safest job markets today. Ouch.

IS all this fear marketing...um...making us sick? Could it be? And what do we do about it?

I think it's about honoring our grandmothers and our great grandmothers. It's about coming back to simple and back to the earth. When a single pill can be invoiced at $250. you have to wonder what we are doing? What have we come to honor, and what do we fear?

I thought about my ancestors, and my little greek uncle Mike had olive trees, fig trees, date trees in his yard. We would go to visit, and he would take us into the back yard and pick from his trees and feed us. Olives. Figs. Dates. Staples to the Greek. Are they healthy for us? You bet!

And you know, an olive tree's leaves treat infections and are an anti-oxidant. (I wonder if someone has a recipe for olive leaf soup or something?) Olives are anti bacterial, anti-fungal, and immune boosting. They are anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory. Go Uncle Mike. BTW-He died in his sleep at 96. His brother was 97, and their father died at...ready...108.

Essential oils

Okay as many of you know I have been using doTerra Essential Oils since Janurary and I have just been to convention, so naturally you get more motivated. Essential oils are just like the herbs Joy has been talking about. You can use the oils in your cooking you can use the topically, internally and you can defuse them. I will be outing some information together about the oils and posting it, but right now I want to tell you doTerra has now produced a non-chemical shampoo and creme rinse. The concerns we all have for the toxins we put in and on your body, so here is an option I have already tried it and I have to say I loved it. I remember when I eas a kid that my mom said that you know your hair is clean it will squeak, yes, I started to laugh in the shower my hair was squeaking. Oh, my gosh and the smells of the essential oils used..shampoo is citrus blends, creme rinse is peppermint and other oils. It is a aromatherapy treatment just by washing your hair. The bonus is non harmful ingredients.
I tried a wonderful stomach wake up this morning. I have read in aryvedic literature to drink warm water with raw honey first thing in the morning so I tried it today along with a few drops of lemon oil and a new oil lime, wow I think I could drink this all day long.
Lemon is a good internal cleanser as well as lime which also is good for the joints and for seasonal flu's.
I don't want to sound like a commercial but the new oils that doTerra has developed are huge for fighting virus's and it getting to be that time of year her is an alternative to staying healthy. Also skin issues, cuts, burns wounds.
The bug arsenal:
Melissa - kills virus's, elevates moods, and helps with stomach discomforts.
Lime - seasonal bugs

Skin issues:
Patchouli - wounds, tissue repair inside and out.
Clear Skin - facial blemishes, itchy scalp, unsightly nail beds

I have to say that a lady had two cuts on her finger at conference and they put the Clear Skin on and before then end of the day the cut they used the Clear Skin on was almost healed.

Just one short story - two year old child having seizures, the doctors loaded her up with meds. Child then couldn't hardly walk or talk. The family was introduced to Frankincense, they began liberally applying it to her feet, within a short amount of time the child could once again walk and talk and no longer has seizures.
There is now tons of research on what Frankincense can do for Cancer, now we see that it can renew cells and change peoples lives. This is an oil that has been with us since ancient times and now science is proving the ancients knew what they were doing.

Chia-ancient food of the Aztecs

I got an interesting email from Greens + that was all about CHIA.

Chia superfood omega 3 has chia chocolate, and chia recipes.

Aztec warriors, it says, drank Chia water before battle, for stamina. I'm curious it that's the same idea as the barley water?
Is that imprinting?

Chia has a shelf life of 5 years so if you don't use it today, not to worry. Chia seems to stabilize blood sugar levels so there is a diabetic study going on.

Chia is gluten free! It's a complete whole food.
To answer CA's question about chia:

It seems to gel like psyillium seed so you can use it as a thickening agent and it looks like only a TBS or two is needed.
Some suggestions are to add it to the liquid when doing cake mixes, then add it to the dry ingredients.
Chia for health.com has recipes. I've found over and over that you mix it in water to make a gel and use that. I don't think there is an soaking per say. Let me know what you find works for you!

here's our earlier post on CHIA

World Headlines with a click

Todays front pages around the world

This is a fascinating site. Not only can you click on any state in the country and read the headlines, you can do it for anywhere in the world. Course you have to be able to read that language to make it work for real.

But I noticed something. In the WHOLE state of Utah, we have two newspapers. Two. It's a big ol state for just two newspapers, don't you think? Idaho has 4. Us, North Dakota and Wyoming...but come on now. Wyoming only has a state population of 450,000!

IOWA has 4! So what do you think about that? How much light can two newspapers spread with the whole state to cover? Isn't that sad? Little Ohio has 14 newspapers! Wow! But no. Vermont...tiny sliver that it is, has 2 as well. But you could fit about 5 Vermonts in the state of Utah, if not more. A lot of wide open territory, yes sir.

Anyway-alot of fun to look at what the world is talkin' about! And despite how we think we are so important, they aren't a talkin' about us!

Transcend it!

Transcend it

you float
you float across the sea
you say you're guaranteed
to transcend it
and you fly
you fly across the sky
your arms are open wide
you're transcendent
you're transcendent

go child
go and find the arms that hold you
know child
know no one will ever harm you
you've run miles
and finally found the thoughts that calm you
so stretch out
stretch out and be

in space
you can barely breathe
I'll tell you what you need
to transcend it

you're whole to a broken soul
just hold to another soul
and if they let you go
you're transcendant
transcendant

go child go
and find two arms that warm you
you know child
know no one will ever harm you
you've run wild (you've run miles)
and finally found the thoughts that calm you
so stretch out
stretch out and be
at peace

Be the Cause - Giving Back

Be The Cause is a non-profit dedicated to assisting people in spearheading causes. It made me think about what we can do to help. What about a service vacation? This year they are going to South Dakota to build housing for the needy on the Lakota reservation. They are joining with the Okiciyapi Tipi Habitat for Humanity. It's a good idea. The dates are April 4-15.

A friend of mine is going to go help build homes on an Indian Reservation in June through here church. She said "I've lived a comfortable life and I just want to give back."

SO many of us are getting that message now-but how to do it? I have friends that went on a mission to Africa over the Holidays to do dental work there. I've other friends that have moved to Peru to build schools.

What can we do to give back, to bring the light in through our concrete action? If you have a good idea, let's hear it. April doesn't work, but we can start to think about something we can do this summer.

"If because of your generosity and love a few humans find their lives, what do you think will happen?" - Rumi

Stolen Innocence

I just finished reading the book 'Stolen Innocence' by Elissa Wall about growing up in a polygamous sect and her subsequent lawsuit against Warren Jeffs. This book absolutely shook me to the core. Since I was a teenager I remember the family talking about my father's second cousin, Corky Wall, and his conversion to the FLDS religion. Elissa is Corky's 11th child from his second wife. I was floored to see Corky's picture plastered in the book - the same man we saw at various family reunions, the same man who spoke a prayer at my mother's funeral. Even though reading the book seemed to be a complete invasion of his privacy, I continued on, opening doors into a lifestyle that I never fathomed existed - oh, how sheltered I am.

I've always had the belief that people should let others worship as they desired, and I was even a little incensed when I saw the FLDS children taken from their parents in Texas. After reading this book, my mind has shifted. Reading about the absolute control by the religion's patriarchs over all it's members, but in particular the women who are viewed as property and the oppressive rules and regulations they're forced to keep makes me relieved to see these Texas children being uprooted.

I am so proud of Elissa for overcoming her fears and I've learned valuable lessons from this courageous 21-year-old girl. Do you think she may be a Shaman at heart?

I'm still Intrigued by the Bahá'í Faith

This is a documentary on the Bahá'í Faith. I'm still intrigued. We do actually have a center in SLC!
Baha=light and "i" means follower. "The follower of the light." Nice.

You know, ultimately, what is the truth? And isn't it all really a personal quest, and so a personal answer?
Revelations that come through in dreams-knowledge of all that is-being a message from one to others-
progressive revelation...wouldn't we all, do so, if we really believe?

All religions are tied together like chapters in a book,
that reinforce the previous prophets and brings new social teachings for our time. That religion is an evolving concept.

Well, that makes perfect sense to me. It continues! It grows-doesn't everything? Of course. So why shouldn't religion?
Why shouldn't we update our way of connecting, our way of believing, our concept of God? Mother>>Father>>God>>Creator>>All That Is>>
What if that really is a course of expansion in our opening to the Universal power?

All powerful, all loving, all knowing, all seeing, all hearing, the prayer hearing God, many titles...
you who are known by a thousand names and you who are the nameless ONE.
All the same God.

Truth is one point. And from that truth...everything evolves. Why do we try so hard to keep things the 'same'?
Everything changes, moves, evolves.

A world government. A world united. What a concept. A joining of hands. Beyond any one religion and into a joining of them all.
I've talked about how we are in a time of a great re-weaving...many threads with unique colors creating a new pattern....something that hasn't been seen before.

How do we reach for that something that is bigger than we are unless we join? Spiritual growth is an individual responsibility.
And they have no clergy! 9 member bodies in areas. An international body that serves for 5 years.

Ultimately-I like the idea of a spiritual council that embraces all faiths and emphasizes personal development...Something new to ruminate on! I wonder if it's true? Nice ideas though. Anyone know more?

World Peace

Women Peacemakers

I was reading up on Marko Rodin's amazing mathematical universe and the development of the systemic unification of black hole space and so so much more and he mentioned that he was a Bahá'í. I thought, "hmmm, what is that?" and in looking it up, am intrigued!

Here is a painting-from Sima Baher-in Uruguay! Land of my husband's family. Coincidence? It's about the role of women in world peace!

Then I see a Bahá'í school in the Andes mountains!
Who are they?
They number 5,000,000
2,112 ethnic and tribal groups
live in over 116,000 localities in 188 independent countries
and 45 dependent territories or overseas departments.
Haifa Israel is the international center and seat of its world-governing council,
known as the Universal House of Justice.

I'm rewriting from their website of course. take a look.
they have a commitment to a global program for moral, spiritual and social progress, promoting equality of women and men (interesting that they put 'her' first).

They search for scientific and religious truth.
World peace and the establishment of a united global commonwealth are distinguishing concerns.

"Women and men have been and will always be equal in the sight of God," said Bahá'u'lláh.

Interesting that 200 people have been killed in Iran for being Bahá'í since 1979.
How long has it been around? 150 years!
