CARLSON'S FISH OIL-get your omega 3s

It's important to get the right fats in your diet. The brain needs those fats, especially if doing a raw or vegan change.

Your brain functions on good fats, so give yourself exactly what you need. I like the taste of Carlson's. Yep. That's exactly right-I LIKE the taste and drink it straight. Give it a try.

Omega 3 from flax seeds contain no DHA, which is essential for the brain. But! It does contain ALA, (alpha linolenic acid), which is what our body needs to create EPA, and then convert EPA to DHA. A lot of steps, and if the body isn't healthy, if it has a sluggish metabolism or has a health issue of some sort, or is low in vital nutrients, those steps might not get done in a speedy fashion, if at all. If it can't it won't.

What then happens, if the body can't use it, it's considered a toxin. It either has to flush it or shove it away, which both can be misinterpreted as allergic responses. GIVE your body the nutrition it needs to really do the job you want it to do.

If you are deficient in zinc, B6, B12, B3 or C you also might have trouble metabolizing the needed conversion.

If you are pyroluric, you have trouble retaining and properly using B6 and require more zince. If you ohave histapenia or histadelia you may have trouble metabolizing without higher B vitamins, specifically B3 (niacinamide), B6 (pyrodine) and B12 to offset imbalances in histamine due to high or low copper.

Get your omega 3 oils up, and get them in a fish oil form that has the necessary DHA already, and make it easier on your body. Once it gets the nutrients it needs, it will start operating better for you! It just makes good sense.

One more thing on fatty acids:

While Omega 6 fatty acids are considered essential fatty acids, and cannot be made in the body, our Western diet tends to put us too HIGH in omega 6 in ratio to omega 3. That imbalance can contribute to all sorts of diseases. According to the University of Maryland, their list includes: heart disease, cancer, asthma, arthritis, and depression. An interesting list! Click below to read the full article.

"A healthy diet should consist of roughly 2-4 time more omega 6 than omega 3. The typical American diet tends to contain 14-25 times more omega 6 than omega 3."

Many researchers are beginning to point to this for the rise in inflammatory disease in our country. Why? What we know is that inflammation is a sign of toxicity, and if the body can't use it, and it can't process it out, it has to do something with it and it starts to put it in the fat cells. That's their job, and that's set up to save those vital things like your heart and liver.

Too much omega 6 fatty acids in the blood can slow it down. Omega 6's come from vegetable oils and are unsaturated. While we do need some, we don't need as much as was earlier thought. Remember: it's only true until it's not true. AND unfortunately with our food industry freely adding hormones to our meats, we are all getting too much estrogen-I question the efficacy of adding omega 6 for this reason.

The best sources for omega 3 oil are cold water fish, and wild is better than aquaculture. True!

MACA for sex and stamina!

MACA is (oh yes oh yes!) supposed to aid in hormonal balancing!
It's also reputed to assist the body in recovering from physical stress.
It increases stamina and endurance, which is what Pam was noticing.
It's good for chronic fatigue.
Maca is rich in iodine-which we know is good for thyroid issues.
It's rich in magnesium, phosphorus and calcium-all good for bone density.
It has zinc and iron, and contains B1, B2, B12, and E
It also has glycosid steroids
It's an adaptogen
It stimulates the hypothalamus, and the pituitary

Unlike caffiiene, it's NOT a stimulant-but it creates a steady unhancement of physical and mental energy.
It is rich in sugars, proteins, starches and essential minerals

Found the following suggestions:

For hot flashes-take a teaspoon twice daily-wow!
and when symptoms balance, reduce to 1/2 tsp daily.
Men-1/2-1 tsp daily.
Perimenopausal-1/4 tsp daily

Maca is also recommended in Peru for bone density=and osteoporosis.
Maca affects the pancreas and is good for hypothyroidism.

In Peru-they swear it is great for SEX! Probably the 'stamina' don't you think?

Liver Detox

Many of my friends that were in Mexico with me last week have reported they were quite sick when they got home!

I told them my remedy and I will say I didn't get sick. I felt a bit off but I thought it was the traveling.
I also didn't eat the fruit on the beach the last day. Maybe that was it?

Here are my home remedies that I swear by, and I took them while there too.
Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin D, and zinc. I take it all at the first feeling of a bit under the weather. All of these boost our own immune system so that it can do what it needs to do.

I also did the green juice when I got home, and I made some detox soup.
1 can of stewed tomatoes, or 5-8 fresh tomatoes, quartered and mashed
1 can of water
2 tbs chopped garlic
1 large onion, chopped
1 green pepper, seeded and chopped
3-4 stalks celery chopped
1 bumch kale, washed and chopped into 1" pieces
1 bag baby spinach, washed and chopped into 1" pieces
1 good handful of fresh cilantro, washed and chopped

Put it all in a pot and put it on low. Cook until all the vegetables are soft.
Add salt, pepper, cayenne.

This is a great detox. Make it anytime you feel a bit punkish. It will clear your system out!
If you want more flavor, add some bullion. Vegetable miso or chicken work best.

Soak Your Almonds

Soaking your nuts isn't just for nuthin'. (or nuttin' lol)
Soaking and drying enlivens them with living nutrition.
Soaking and drying kills the phytates.
Phytates deplete your body of zinc and iron.

AH HA!

those of us that are low in zinc...ahem...

Pyroluria Testing, B6, Zinc and the BRAIN

I've been researching an interesting little vitamin-B6. The RDA is a whopping 2 mg a day, which is the standard set in 1968.

Think things might be different now???

Microwaves? Processed foods? Soil depletion? Electromagnetic fields? STRESS? Home computers? Cell phones?

B6 is deficient in most of the conditions involving a brain imbalance: things like ADHD, autism, downs, schizophrenia, bipolar, manic depressive. Without sufficient B6, we can't metabolize our foods-proteins, sugars, starches, carbs. B6 is used to make tryptophan, which is used to make melatonin, which is used to get us to sleep! It's an important little guy!!!

And another thing-some people have a genetic issue called pyroluria. If you are pyroluric you don't process zinc or B6 and it flushes out of your system so you are always chronically deficient...and many people with the above mentioned imbalances will test deficient in zinc, even if they take it.

I tested deficient-and still do. The taste test (liquid zinc sulphate) should taste quite nasty. Mine was neutral which means I was low. Interesting for me is that even supplementing up to 50mg (remember the RDA was 2mg) I still taste neutral. Odds are I AM pyroluric.

The best part is my brain feels calm, balanced, and I am happier. I am! I feel great, I have energy galore, and I'm just plain happy.

There is a mail order test if you want to know if you or someone you know has pyroluria. Here's the link:
phroluria testing

For more information, try these sites:
dr kaslow about pyroluria

Pyroluria is managed by restoring B6 and zinc; and if you are pyroluric, you are stress intolerant because you can't make serotonin-which is the feel good precursor. Other symptoms are poor short term memory, explosive anger at times, higher irritability, anxious, nervous, mood swings, poor mood control, and depression. Most pyrolurics have at least two of these, and in general they are stress intolerant. Symptoms increase with stress.

(which pretty much brings me back to my first point-our society is much more stressful than it was in 1968)

If you have a tendency to any of the above emotionals, this could be the smoking gun we've been looking for. Who would think a nutritional deficiency could be the culprit...oh wait...US!

And btw-remember it's genetic, so if you have it, chances are your kids or your parents-so pass the information on.

One more thing: for fun look up orthomolecular psychiatry...I did. They have known about these particular imbalances and how it affects the brain and emotional body-since the 1950s. The doctor that first came out with it...was disbarred and banned by the AMA. The next doctors that coined the phrase "orthomolecular psychiatry" and said that they felt nutrition could heal many of what were being termed 'psychiatric' conditions...they were also drummed out as quacks.

I don't know about you...but the way things are going...I'm even MORE inclined to look at who they are and have attacked...since the drugs don't seem to be what they thought. But that's me. Go research for yourself and see what you come up with!

Zinc and Copper

Zinc to Copper form an interesting balance. They need to be a 10:1 ratio, and when copper is off, it can produce anemia-like symptoms because it's involved in helping out with the iron-uptake. It's an important little guy. AND copper can help prevent, and even reverse GREY HAIR, wrinkles and sagging skin. If the ratio is off, we can have thyroid issues.

GET THIS-low and high copper levels are found when there are mental and emotional problems, ok ok. BUT! Low copper can also be involved when there are ruptured discs, blind explosive rages, learning disabilities, high blood pressure, hypo or hyper thyroid, varicose veins, dry brittle hair, gray or white hair.

TOO MUCH ZINC can cause a copper dificiency. We've been adding zinc...could we be throwing off the copper? Pay attention to what the body says. I've been craving carrots. Maybe that's why?

Did you know...progesterone and estrogen

That it is progesterone that helps with myelinization-the myelin sheath that protects our brain neurons. So progesterone improves memory and cognitive abilities, and synaptic function. So if we feel fuzzy headed, that could be low progeseterone!

Progeseterone also relaxes muscles, acts as an antiinflammatory, and increases our core temperature. Have you noticed your core temperature going up or down? Mine has gone UP!
It helps with blood clotting, and with zinc and copper levels, and cell oxygenation, and it's supposed to help with metabolizing fat.It also helps with thyroid function, ligaments, skin and tendons.

Progesterone is protective. If women have too little, they can be prone to miscarry, as progesterone signals the holding of the lining. We felt GOOD when we were pregnant due to the rise in progesterone. I felt great when I was pregnant!

Here's something else-if you are using the cream, they say to NOT use it for 4-7 days once a month so the cells remain sensitive to it.

If your progesterone drops-you could get a headache! I stopped using the cream 5 days ago to take a break. I had a wicked headache for a day. Worse than coffee!

You could also get food cravings, irritability, edema, low libido, mood swings, anxiety, and fuzzy thinking...if low in progesterone.

And the hot flushes are due to the drop in both estrogen and progesterone...

ok anyone else confused???

GOJI BERRIES

THIS time the wonder food is from Tibet! Think of the taste of cranberries and cherries and you will have it. They are sweet, and you buy them dried in bags, and they have a pretty red color even dry. They’re about the size of raisins.

This is another sexual potency fruit-hmmmmm we are awakening the wild feminine afterall! ☺

This may be the most nutritionally rich berry on the planet according to researchers, so give it a try. This little fruit has 21 trace minerals including iron, copper, zinc and calcium as well as germanium, selenium and phosphorus. It also has 18 amino acids, and B1,2 and 6, as well as E. Pretty good for a little berry. They also are anti-inflammatories, have linleic acid, and a bunch of other stuff I can’t spell. They boost the immune system and the libido apparently. So we were talking about longevity right? Well, Li Qing Yuen, ate goji berries every day and he lived to be (ready for this?) 252 years old! I kid you not! 1678-1930. His life is one of the best documented cases of extreme age we have. Hah! If he can we can. And look at all that pretty color! BTW-this is a kirilan photograph of a fresh goji berry-wow!
