Sweetner: Lucuma Powder

I haven't tried the lucuma powder yet, but I think I will.

Lucuma Powder –

Try "The Gold of the Incas"!!

This is one of the BEST low-glycemic sweeteners we use...

Lucuma Powder (pronounced Loo- Ku- Mah) is a raw, gourmet, organic, low-glycemic sweetener that creates a rich and creamy texture and imparts a subtle maple flavor. A sign of truly raw Lucuma is its brilliant bright yellow color. (Unfortunately not all Lucuma Powder is so radiant in color and nutrients.)

Lucuma is an exotic Peruvian fruit once known as the "Gold of the Incas." The round or ovaloid fruits are green, with a bright yellow flesh that is often fibrous. It has been honored spiritually and culinarily since ancient times. Within the Peruvian culture, lucuma is often part of celebrations and banquet settings because of its distinct and fragrant flavor. Although it grows in other tropical regions, fruits grown in the Peruvian highlands are considered to be of superior flavor, and are culturally revered.

The Peruvians savor the taste of it in ice cream, as it is one of their most popular flavors. We love to use it in raw ice creams. And we are so inspired by the rich, low-glycemic flavor of Lucuma we have created a new flavor of our popular Coconut Créme - Lucuma-Vanilla.

Power of Lucuma:
Lucuma is low in acid, low in sugar and contains an excellent source of carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, especially B3, and minerals. It is especially abundant in beta-carotene, niacin and iron with significant amounts of calcium and phosphorus.

Suggested Uses:

Use Lucuma Powder in place of agave nectar (which is a highly processed sweetener)
Substitute for maple, butterscotch, or toffee flavors in your favorite desserts.
Mix into tea for a creamy texture and sweet, rich flavor.
Sprinkle on top of your favorite granola.
Also try our Lucuma-Vanilla Coconut Creme!!
